Thanksgiving in Cali

The Monday before Thanksgiving I got hit with the stomach flu and went home from school. By Tuesday morning, it had subsided to a point where I felt like I could chilax in a car. At least I wasn't having to move! And so with that, we took off to California to spend Thanksgiving with the Rombergs! Boy, did we get broken into the club of Traveling Parents. Zack did really well up until we hit the 6 hour mark of being in the car. He started to get really fussy and angry. Although I tried my best to stick to his schedule. his naps were off, and he just wasn't as interested in his food being served in a car rather than at home. By the time we hit the state line, he'd had enough and threw up EVERYWHERE! Prunes... YUM! ;) So Clayton found the nearest exit while I am in the back trying to stop my child from splashing in his own ralph. We pulled over and wiped down our child. Thank heavens we always pack an extra outfit in his diaper bag so we didn't have to go digging for one! Clayton changed Zack while I wiped down the car seat. We put his dirty clothes in one bag, and put the dirty diaper in another. It wasn't until we got to California 4 hours later that we realized we had thrown both bags away in Vegas! Oh the joys! We did a lot better on the way home, stopped for more stretching breaks and Zack stayed a lot more happy that way. Clayton caught my flu Wednesday morning, so while everyone headed to Grandma LaRae's and Aunt Karen's for Thanksgiving dinner, I stayed home to take care of Clayton and keep our illnesses away from the entire Romberg clan. But Clayton recovered by Thursday and was 100% by Friday and so we had fun while almost everyone else was out riding across the dunes at Glamis. We had a great time and loved being there! Here are a few pictures of the fun we had.

Zack loved taking baths in Grandma Valerie's sink!

Grandma Valerie took us to lunch on the pier at Ruby's. Zack seemed to enjoy it just as much as we did!

Zack and I walking down the pier.

Our family down at the Huntington Beach Pier. I love going down to the pier! It's a stop I request every time we go down there! :)

Zack had his own little surf shop down on the pier....
And he seemed pretty happy about it! ;)
Clayton helping to prepare the turkey that he never got to eat. :(
On a night where we were all feeling well, we warmed up the spa and took Zack for a swim! I think he looks like such a little stud in his swimsuit! :)
The swim teacher in me took over! :)
We had a lot of fun teaching Zack to swim and being together!
You can see Clayton's old neighborhood before they moved to where they are now in this picture. We took a walk down through the wetlands on our last day down there and Clayton and Valerie taught me a lot about Huntington Beach and about the historic lands by their house. It was quite interesting for me!

Me pointing to some scenery! :) (I thought I was funny!)
We had so much fun (despite everyone taking turns being ill!) Thank you so much Ken and Valerie for letting us come stay with you and letting us bring the flu to California! :) We love going to California when we get the chance, and had a lot of fun being with Clayton's family for the holiday. We took some pictures of Zack with his Grandpa Kenny and Grandma Val, but they are on Valerie's camera (*hint hint*) so maybe we'll get to post some of those soon! ;) Love you all!
