This is what you see as soon as you walk into the doors. In this picture, it looks like the desks are a shambles and just sporadically thrown into the room. But they are arranged into a shape that looks almost like two capital "E"s mirroring each other... If that makes sense....jpg)
Here is a view from the back of the room. You get a little better sense of the desk arrangement. And you also get to see the white board and my Mountain Language wall which, although is quite plain, I'm very proud of how it turned out. I think it looks nice!.jpg)
I like the monkeys, if you can't tell! This is my monkey board. When the kids do fun projects and things, I'll hang them up on this board, rather than having the monkeys hanging from the vines. They did to pictures of their community heros that I wanted to put up, but they were supposed to turn them in on a day that I had a sub, so who knows if some of them even got the memo to turn them in. Heck! The same mistake could have happened on a day I was there! It was in the midst of them cleaning out their desks... Anyway, like you care about my kids missing assignments! :).jpg)
My desk is located in the back corner of the room... This is proof that it IS possible for a teacher's desk to be clean! It has been a goal of mine to keep my desk and my room as a whole clean this year. I have to admit, today was one of those days where I felt like it was falling apart! We usually sanitize the desks and clean our desks out each Friday, but today I couldn't take it anymore! And so the kids helped me clean it really good, and I cleaned my desk while they cleaned up the room. But this is actually pretty close to how it normally looks! :).jpg)
This is my Word Wall. It takes up pretty much my whole back wall! I almost had to rearrange the whole thing because they installed that sound system you see in the corner. But I cheated my way around it because... LOOK AT ALL THOSE WORDS! It took me a while to get this thing up!.jpg)
These are their cubbies. This is where they turn in their homework and get notes that they need to take home. Also, the baskets on top are where they turn in their assignments they complete in class. Not too exciting, but the little purple books are what I'm proud of. Instead of copying their homework each week, they each have their own book of worksheets and they just tear them out of here! Hurray for saving money on copies! :).jpg)
Here are their name tags... Again, with the monkeys! In 3rd grade, learning cursive is a BIG part of the curriculum. I took a lot of time practicing how to write each student's name in cursive, but I think they turned out good! I figured my cousin Alex wouldn't mind if I used her name tag to show off... It's fun to have some family with me every day! :)So, there you have it! When I am not at home loving my boy, I am at school loving and teaching everyone else's kids here in my classroom! I am a fan of my room... I think it's great. I'm having fun teaching this year! I have a fun class and they are doing great and are becoming little friends of mine. Next to being a mommy and a wife, being a teacher is the BEST job you could ask for! And how blessed am I that I get to do all 3. I love it!
