Zack's 4 Month Visit

Zack went in to get his 4 month check up the other day, and I thought I'd present you with the stats. Before we went to the doctor's office, we stopped at the Health Dept. to get one of his immunizations that our insurance won't cover (he gets the rest at the doctor's office). He did good with that. Just cried for a few seconds, then took his binkie and was pretty good. If he would have cried any more than that, I think I would have joined him. There were screaming kids everywhere, but my little guy was super brave. Then we went to the doctor's office and got his measurements:

Height: 25 in. (55th percentile)
Weight: 14 lbs (12th percentile)
Head Circumference: 43 cm (49th percentile)

Overall, they said he's proportionate, so he's ok. I've been weaning him off breastfeeding since I've gone back to school, but will still feed him before I leave and when I come home. But my doctor said that unless I have the emotional attachment of breast feeding that I can't let go of, that keeping him 100% on formula right now may be a good idea, for his weight. I still enjoy breastfeeding him some, so I just do so now before I go to work, but for the rest of the day he is drinking formula. But other than that, the doctor said that he looked great, and that I should start looking to see if he is showing interest in solid foods. He told me what signs to look for and that I "would be able to tell," and that I "would just know" when he wants it and how to give it to him. He gave me suggestions, but then said I'd figure it out. As soon as he left, the nurse turned to me and said, "Ya, as if this mothering thing is such a piece of cake! But don't worry! 'You'll just figure it out!'" hahaha I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders about those comments. Everyone has been telling me since day one with him that my "motherly instincts" will kick in and I'll "just know what to do." Some days I feel like I'm a pro, and the next day I find myself wondering, "when will I get those 'motherly instincts' everyone talks about!" But all in all, Zack is doing well. He's getting very barfy again, which Clayton and I are a little worried about, but are watching carefully. But he is overall a very happy baby still! We love him to pieces, and he's doing great!
