Happy Heart Day!

Our Valentines Day got sort of split into 2 days. On Friday I spent the day with 27 8-9 year olds which was pretty fun. Then I came home to my wonderful husband and son! Clayton planned a surprise for me, which in and of itself is exciting to me! Friday night, Clayton brought home the most beautiful roses.
That was very special for me. I don't get flowers every Valentines. Clayton likes to save the flower giving for times that show he's thinking of me and wanting me to feel extra special, and not just because it's a holiday, which I appreciate. This time, it just coincidentally fell on a holiday that he wanted to make my day special. :) We went out to Macaroni Grill for dinner, which was my surprise, and I loved! We let Zack tag along when we go out, so it had been a while since we'd been somewhere that nice without being family or friends. So with just my two Valentines, we set off to dinner. We came home and watched part of the Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies, which was pretty cool. Then we just watched a movie and just hung out together. When it comes to Valentines, that's all I really need: just to be with my Valentine, so the night was perfect!
Zack was not left out of the Valentine's Day fun! He got to come along with Mommy and Daddy on their dinner date, and even got his first valentine card! Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Gary sent Zack a valentine in the mail, and I must say, I think he enjoyed it!
Sunday came, which was REAL Valentine's Day. We went down to Delta with my dad to hear my cousin, Taylor, give his homecoming talk after returning home from a mission in Guatemala. He did a great job and it was really fun to get to talk with him and to see my cousins and family. My Aunt Allyson gave my dad a piece of ice cream cake to take home after the lunch was over. It's a 3 hour drive for my dad back home from Delta, so we tried to think of a way to keep the ice cream from melting on the 3 hour drive. Then my genius husband and my very bright and intelligent father came up with this plan:
That's right, my husband, using his mad skills, strapped the cake to the top of the car using bungee cords, and we all hoped it would stay on, and the cold winter air passing over it while we drove would keep it cold enough. Last I heard, the cake made it safe and sound clear to Farmington! Good job boys!
We came home, and Clayton had planned for us to make heart-shaped pizzas for our Sunday Valentine's Day dinner! So, we each made an individual sized pizza for the other to show our love... through food!
Clayton wanted peppers on his pizza, so I chopped some up to put on his, and then requested that he NOT do the same for me... :)
Before cooking.... Can you tell what Clayton was trying to tell me this Valentine's Day season? I liked it! ;)
And after cooking. After I added the peppers, I cut out heart-shaped pepperonis to add to Clayton's pizza! He enjoyed it I think, and I thought I was super creative with that one! ;)
And here was my dinner that Clayton prepared for me! We had such a fun time doing it, and they tasted delicious! And Zack was very patient as we ate and made our meals for each other. He's kind of pulling a funny face, but isn't he cute! ;) He got his 4th tooth this day, so he was having a little celebration of his own!
I love Clayton so much! I am so lucky to have such a loving and patient man by my side. Even though we've been married only 2 1/2 years, I feel like I have known him my whole life. He is so supportive and has been there to lift me up in countless ways that no one else could have ever done for me. I guess that is what spouses are for! But I must say, I picked a pretty good one! The BEST one! ;) I am so lucky and so blessed to have such a wonderful husband to be with me for eternity. I love you Clayton! Thank you for a wonderful Valentine's!
